Irish-Italian Spaghetti

Irish-Italian Spaghetti
Serves 4
Here's a childhood favorite that first appeared in the Better Homes and Garden magazine in the 1930s, and according to their website, they still get requests for it! It's easy to make, and apparently, people can't seem to get enough of it.
Ingredients
  1. 1 pound ground beef, pork or turkey
  2. 1 medium onion, chopped (½ cup)
  3. 1 or 2* 10 3/4 ounce can cream of mushroom soup
  4. 1 or 2* 10 3/4 ounce can condensed tomato soup
  5. ½ teaspoon chili powder
  6. ½ teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce
  7. ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  8. Dash ground red pepper (optional)
  9. ½ to 1 pound dried spaghetti*
  10. ½ cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan cook the ground beef and onion until meat is brown.
  2. Add the soups, chili powder, hot pepper sauce and pepper.
  3. Bring to boiling, stirring often; reduce heat and simmer, covered, 45 minutes, stirring often.
  4. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package directions.
  5. Stir pasta into the sauce.
  6. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
Notes
  1. * Makes 4 to 8 servings, depending on the use of 2 or 4 cans of soup and the amount of pasta.
