Plum Dumplings (Mother's Dumplings)
Serious family favorite and a lot of fun for the family to make. Get everyone involved for great time in the kitchen! Super tasty treat!
Ingredients
  1. Italian Prune Plums (pitted)
  2. 1 cup mashed potatoes
  3. 1 cup of flour
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1 tsp salt
  6. Sugar as needed

Instructions
  1. Boil two large potatoes, allow to cool, peel and mash.
  2. While bringing a pot of water to a boil, combine potatoes, flour, egg and salt in a large bowl to form the dough.
  3. Work dough together and roll into a log about 2 ½ inches in diameter.
  4. Slice off ½ inch of dough, roll and secure around a pitted plum filled with a teaspoon of sugar, to form a dumpling.
  5. Gently drop dumplings into boiling water.
  6. They will sink and after a few minutes will float to the top.
  7. After about 10 minutes of floating you can remove them.
  8. Roll in or drizzle with melted butter and poppy seeds to taste.
Notes
  1. Some people prefer cinnamon to poppy seeds.
