Shepherd's Pie

Delicious comfort food for those cold evenings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef, pork or turkey
- 2 cups hot prepared mashed potatoes
- 1 1/2 cups beef gravy
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, pressed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 cups frozen vegetable blend such as mixed vegetables or peas and carrots
- 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions
- Boil potatoes and prepare gravy.
- In a large fry pan, brown the ground meat, chopped onion and garlic then drain.
- Thoroughly mix in seasonings then add vegetables and gravy to pan. Bring mixture to a boil then spoon into oval baking dish.
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- Prepare mashed potatoes (keep them stiff) then sprinkle half of cheese over potatoes and mix lightly.
- Spoon potatoes into decorator bag fitted with open star tip (if desired). Pipe potatoes around edge of baking dish over meat mixture.
- Bake 25-30 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
- Remove baking dish from oven and sprinkle remaining cheese over potatoes.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
